"Without the doctors and nurses in critical care, I would not be here today to sing their praises and assist in raising funds for their ongoing training."

ABOUT ME

In 2007 I was involved in a motorbike accident. Suffering from several broken bones and serious internal organ damage, my family were informed that I had a 1% chance of surviving the first 24 hours.

Had it not been for the resources made available for my care, the vast knowledge and on-going research conducted by Professor Jeff Lipman and his dedicated team of intensive care doctors, along with the wonderful and incredible care of those unsung heroes, the nurses; I would not have been able to survive the 71 days I spent in the Intensive Care Unit, at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH).

The RBWH is Queensland's largest and busiest hospital, with the emergency and intensive care units considered to be one of the best in the world, and as a direct result of receiving funding from the community for advanced research projects, RBWH saves hundreds of lives, one of those was mine. Research is not Government funded as we have a large public health system and relies on the commitment and generosity of corporate and community groups to drive the research that delivers the breakthroughs in improved patient treatment and ultimately hold the key to the future improvements.

Thomas Edison said “Hell, there are no rules here – we’re trying to accomplish something!Help me break the rules, because when we do, the research brought about by this will be immeasurable.

To help, join me at this year's charity gala event, Right Royal ‘British’ Affair, or though the Pay Pal or RBWH Foundation links.

I would like to thank you for taking the time for visiting my site.
Go on, break the rules!
Sasha.
